Sales and Marketing Director – Genomics Service

Job Description

Psomagen Inc. is a genomics service provider for life science research and industry field in North America. This position will build and lead a best-in-class sales organization to discover and support the revenue generation opportunities in genomics service business field. As a strategic leader of the field sales organization, the candidate will manage the team of Regional Sales Directors and lead the marketing team to meet or exceed sales goals and expense management objectives. This position will collaborate with Psomagen leadership to develop commercialization strategies that enable the Psomagen portfolio to meet its full revenue potential. The individual in this position needs to be a proactive leader and team player with a track record of building winning sales cultures, along with expertise in utilizing various sales principles and processes to ensure achievement of goals and objectives.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Build, manage, and lead a genomics service commercial team including regional sales representatives, marketing, technical customer support, product management function.
  • Build sales target and manage pipeline, forecast the sales and define the action point toward targeted customers and applications.
  • Achieve sales targets, manage pipelines, lead new customer acquisition and promote high margin applications to both existing and the new customers.
  • Building and Managing Relationships: interact with key strategic accounts, Key Opinion Leaders (KO Ls), and other influential pharmaceutical executives and research/development continuum that defines the operating complexity of the biotechnology/ MDx industry
  • Responsible for aligning the strategic vision and annual sales plans to meet company strategy and objectives
  • Foresee and interpret market changes and rapidly respond by adjusting strategies and realigning priorities and action points accordingly
  • Build brand/service marketing strategy and supervise marketing activities
  • Manage KPI of regional sales managers and also, establish effective incentive plan based on the action plan originated from the sales target
  • Approve the monthly sales figure closing.
  • Collaborates with other internal team on strategic planning with key accounts and ensures the best in class customer service
  • Responsible for the construction, review, and revision of contract documents with the external institutes.
  • Actively engage in the strategic business development with the key external accounts to facilitate building the relationships.
  • Organize a smooth operation in corporation with Lab director to make fulfillment process flows through, and to promote customer satisfaction.
  • Be the product knowledge champion, train the sales team to be proficient
  • Establish the customer handling protocol, especially in presenting the high margin services
  • Ensures that all sales activities are executed in full compliance with Company guidelines
  • Oversee overall marketing activities and manage marketing team staffs

Specific Qualifications (required unless noted otherwise)

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of sequencing/biotechnology sales leadership experience. Other relevant experience, i.e. lab scientist is a plus.
  • Experience in the genomics service market
  • Strong knowledge in genomics/biotechnology/bioinformatics/life science field
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead teams and have the managerial courage to make and stand by difficult decisions
  • Proven ability to grow and develop others
  • Experience in small company and start-up work environments is a plus
  • Travel requirements: must be able to travel ~50% of the time for field sales contacts, attend internal/external meetings and conventions, etc.
